Estimating the labour supply and labour demand for female labour in rural India
Authors
Bhavna Khari
Abstract
This paper attempts to estimate the female labour
supply and demand in rural India by utilising the NSSO - 61st round data and
controlling for other covariates. The decision to participate in the labour
market for a female relies not only on her own willingness to work but also on
various other factors like family support, education, children, distance to
workplace, status of the family etc. Recent emphasis on female labour supply in
the labour market has received greater attention and this paper is an attempt
to do the same.
