Abstract
Udaipur, the "City of Lakes" nestled
in Rajasthan, India, is renowned for its Rajput architecture and cultural
heritage. This research explores the profound impact of traditional paintings
on Udaipur's identity and their role in sustainable tourism. These paintings,
reflecting intricate detailing and vibrant colors, encapsulate the city's rich
cultural tapestry. Beyond aesthetics, they serve as living documents narrating
history, mythology, and societal values. As tourism evolves, there's a need to
balance economic gains with cultural preservation and environmental
conservation. Traditional paintings offer authentic experiences for cultural
tourists while dispersing visitor traffic sustainably. This study underscores
their significance in cultural preservation, economic development, and
fostering intercultural dialogue. By leveraging traditional paintings, Udaipur
can differentiate itself in the tourism market and promote responsible tourism
practices. Through collaboration and conscious management, these paintings
contribute to preserving Udaipur's cultural heritage and supporting local
communities, ensuring a harmonious future for sustainable tourism.
